Five Ed Wilson originals, as only Ed can write - with varying feels.
There are TWO VERSIONS OF EACH TITLE (back to back)
Version 1 (big band part) has WRITTEN SOLOS for the musician to
play along with Track 1 on the CD or with the big band.
Version 2 has the melody and solo space on all of the parts for musicians to practice
solo improvisation.
Each chart comes with a play-a-long CD which may be copied to use
for home practice and improvisation practice.
This series is ideal for elective music exams.  The student would
play version two and use the live band or the CD as a backing band.

This is a "Basie style", straight ahead swinger featuring optional written solos for trumpet & tenor sax. The saxes have the bulk of the melody. A short shout chorus leads back into the catchy theme after the solos.

Minor Rift has a driving swing/shuffle feel. It is basically a minor blues with a few colours added. Optional written solos for trombone, trumpet and guitar. Plenty of punch building through 4 key changes.

A catchy, light rock feel (almost bossa nova) ballad.  Features two alto saxes.  A big bridge from the brass leads into an optional written solo for 1st alto sax.

Dixie Doodlin' has a raunchy, "Stripper" like feel (plenty of "bump and grind").  It requires a good, forceful approach with glissing trombones, a back beat from the drums and section against section.  Optional written solos for trumpet and tenor sax.

This has a high energy rock feel featuring double tonguing from the brass.  Saxes carry the rather busy melody.  There is an optionl written solo for guitar.  A good chance to feature the drummer with an optional extended solo. 
A great concert closer.
